This position is for a Medical Assistant in a General Cardiology clinic. The role involves both clinical and administrative tasks, including chart preparation, telephone triage, authorization forms, and assisting with refills and in-basket management. The position may require travel to satellite clinics.

Responsibilities:
- Chart preparation
- Telephone triage
- Completing authorization forms
- Assisting with medication refills
- Managing in-basket tasks
- Traveling to satellite clinics as needed
- Assisting patients in their routine activities of daily living
- Performing range of motion
- Ambulating patient
- Positioning patient and providing skin care
- Distributing linen and changes bed as needed
- Assisting with feeding and meal delivery
- Assisting with routine hygiene care including toileting and incontinent care, as well as appropriate oral and personal hygiene.
- Obtaining urine, stool, and sputum specimens and processes specimens as needed.
- Obtaining and records health, weights, vital signs, including pulse oximetry and pain assessment and I&O.
- Communicating patient status and reports changes in patient condition to licensed professional.
- Performing incentive spirometry.
- Transporting patient. Preps for diagnostic tests.
- Assisting rehab therapists (PM & R).
- Performing pulse oximetry/oxygen set up in oxygen therapy.
- Preparing room (supplies). Providing post mortem care.
- Preparing for admission and discharge.
- Assisting nurse in emergency situations.
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment.
- Performing suction (oral, naso pharynx).
- Performing blood sugar finger sticks.
- Removing IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
- Performing EKGs (department specific responsibility).
- Answering unit phone and directs calls accordingly.
- Performing data entry into electronic medical database systems. Documents patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Performing selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinating equipment/supply needs. Notifying appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
- Performing any other related duties (e.g., clerical, technical duties) as assigned.
Required Skills &
Certifications:
- At least 6 months of experience working as a Medical Assistant
- BLS certification
- EPIC charting experience
- Reliable transportation
Preferred Skills &
Certifications:
- Cardiology experience
- MA-C certification (MA-R will be considered)
Special Considerations:
- Candidate must have reliable transportation (not public transportation)
- No additional scheduling restrictions
- Facility may call off traveler up to 1 shift per pay period (every 2 weeks)
- Open to relocation permanently for non-local candidates
Scheduling:
- 5x8hr Days, , Mon-Fri
