Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible and accountable for coordinating the information and support necessary to facilitate efficient patient flow within both the Swedish Medical Center and the Emergency Department. You will serve as a key resource for patients, families, and visitors—providing assistance, guidance, and solutions with professionalism and compassion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Frontline Customer Service: Provide welcoming reception and registration services to all patients and visitors.
  • Patient Intake & Documentation: Interview patients and families to obtain required demographic and financial information; complete all consents; collect and secure valuables and deposits; escort or direct patients as needed.
  • Billing & Insurance Support: Act as the initial point of contact for patient and visitor questions regarding billing, insurance, and collections.
  • Financial Assistance: Assist patients seeking financial aid by processing necessary documentation and helping identify alternate sources of coverage, including payment arrangements for private‑pay accounts.
  • Registration Expertise: Serve as the POS team expert to facilitate all aspects of patient registration throughout their hospitalization.
    Care Coordination:
    Work closely with physician offices and POS team members to resolve coverage issues and ensure timely, accurate patient information flow.
  • Quality & Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the Medical Center and Emergency Department.
  • Special Assignments: Perform special project tasks as directed.
  • Flexibility: Step in to cover occasional unscheduled shifts or partial shifts due to urgent needs or staff shortages, including assisting in finding coverage when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree
  • Two (2) years experience in a medical setting with inpatient or outpatient admitting
  • Patient Registration or financial counseling or insurance and medical terminology experience
