Position: Lab Aide (Work Study)

The Termini Lab is recruiting a highly motivated Lab Aide to join our team. Our lab focuses on understanding how blood stem cells regenerate after stress and how these pathways are manipulated during disease. The Termini Lab combines basic cell biology with translational applications using pre-clinical mouse models and primary patient samples to evaluate blood cells. Techniques we regularly use in the lab include cell culture, flow cytometry, brightfield microscopy, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), immunohistochemistry, and fluorescence-activated cell sorting.

The candidate will assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in performing research and contributing to daily laboratory operations in collaboration with scientists in the laboratory. The candidate will join an environment that supports creativity, professional development, and scientific discovery. This position is part‑time, 10 hours per week.

This is a work‑study opening. Work‑study is a college / university program that enables part‑time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, affording them assistance with educational expenses. Applicants eligible to apply need to have the following:

  • Currently on or will be eligible for off‑campus work‑study during the upcoming academic school year.

You will be required to submit Financial Aid documentation confirming work study eligibility for off‑campus work prior to interview.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare media and reagents, such as stock solutions.
  • Rinse and prepare glassware for cleaning. Deliver glassware to storage areas.
  • Maintain clean and orderly laboratory area.
  • Clean and maintain lab equipment.
  • May check and replenish supplies.
  • May assist with experiments and set‑up.
  • Perform simple, routine and repetitive laboratory tests and procedures as directed.
  • Perform clerical duties as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; OR,
  • High school senior with lab‑based experience or demonstrated interest in the sciences

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate in a four‑year university.
  • Some lab experience and/or college level biology courses preferred.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $21.30 to $30.13 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

This position is not eligible for H‑1B sponsorship at this time.
