Job Description

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), full-time (1.0 FTE), currently available at the UW Autism Center (UWAC). UWAC supports families affected by autism spectrum disorders through exceptional clinical services, innovative scientific research, and high-quality training. It is part of the Center on Human Development and Disability at the University of Washington, incorporating faculty and staff from the UW School of Medicine, College of Arts & Sciences, and College of Education.

This position works among a team of professionals, including licensed psychologists, speech‑language pathologists, behavior analysts, behavior technicians, medical professionals, faculty, graduate students, and pre‑ and post‑doctoral fellows. Primary functions include participation in our Training and School Services team and participation on our ABA team.

Key Responsibilities On the ABA team (50%)
  • Provide individual skills training for children, adolescents, and adults with autism spectrum disorders.
  • Supervise behavior technicians who work with clients in their homes or a clinic setting.
  • Provide consultation to community providers to develop continuity of care for patients and families.
  • Meet a minimum of 60% billable expectation.
  • Complete initial client/patient evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, referral letters, and other administrative responsibilities in a timely manner.
  • Keep appropriate records of services provided and coordinate with the billing office to meet billable expectations.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate practicum students and volunteers, and evaluate their performance.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and other meetings as necessary.
  • Participate in community activities and events.
  • Collaborate with other clinical team members on assessment, intervention, and consultation regarding diagnosis and intervention strategies as needed.
On the Training and School Services team (50%)
  • Provide professional development and training to participants interacting with individuals with ASD, including parents, educators, and other providers. Training may consist of developing workshop material, presenting workshops, and traveling to and from workshops.
  • Provide classroom or student consultation in the school setting, including review of records, interview, functional analysis, direct observation, intervention design, direct intervention, coaching school staff, and report writing.
  • Complete and participate in multi‑disciplinary education evaluations, as requested.
  • Generate workshops and materials based on evidence‑based best practice strategies for a variety of audiences including parents, family members, special educators, general educators, school administration, BCBAs, SLPs, OT/PT, psychologists, etc.
  • Meet a minimum of 60% billable expectation.
  • Complete student evaluations, reports, progress reports, and other administrative responsibilities in a timely manner.
  • Meet assigned deadlines.
Supervisory Duties
  • Supervise practicum students and behavior technicians.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, education, or related field.
  • Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) license.
  • Two to three years of relevant experience.
Additional Qualifications
  • LBA license from Washington State DOH and BCBA certification.
  • Two or more years of experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder.
  • Experience teaching and designing programs for students with autism spectrum disorder, including collaboration with general education teachers, school administrators, related services personnel, and outside community providers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience assessing behavior and synthesizing results in a written report.
  • An approach to working with colleagues that enhances collaboration and team building.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, negotiate multi‑layered regulatory systems, manage competing priorities, and strong organization skills.
  • Frequent travel to client homes, schools, and training sites; ability and flexibility to travel reliably to alternate work locations.
