Position: Research Coordinator 2 (NE S UAW Research)

Job Description

The Department of Neurological Surgery has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Coordinator 2 to join their team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 50% Training Project startup:
  • Partner with investigators, research teams and IHS clinics from across the country on the national training start-up. Support the design and implementation of clinical training.
  • Ensure that projects are executed successfully and completed within needed time frames to meet research objective.
  • Serve as the point‑person for tracking tasks and documents between UW and the IHS, and provide reports to faculty leadership on a weekly basis.
  • Assist in complex IRB submittals.
  • Oversee and facilitate regulatory, budgetary, contractual, and all other aspects of training protocols, ensuring compliance with applicable federal regulations, institutional policies, and the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as needed.
  • Obtain and submit budget/billing information, initiate CTAs, develop billing grids, and communicate with clinical sites.
  • Identify potential challenges and suggest appropriate courses of action in a timely manner, forwarding concerns and solutions to training leadership as appropriate.
25% Research Operations Support:
  • Assist in the design and rollout of the training modules.
  • Coordinate multiple protocol‑specific training curriculum efforts across clinical sites.
  • Maintain clear communication with the investigator and associated staff.
  • Reconcile and review financial issues with department staff.
  • Work closely with departmental staff and central offices to ensure financial stability, and confidentiality of the data for the projects.
20% Project Management
  • Assist in developing protocols for training grants to meet successful milestones and adhere to monthly and annual timelines.
  • Work with the training team and directors to develop standard protocols for IRB documentation, status report submissions, invoicing and billing.
  • Identify and troubleshoot situations throughout the training rollout and implementation for successful outcomes.
5% Other duties as assigned

To be defined by the training team and project needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience in human subjects research.
  • Demonstrated experience as a research coordinator for both investigator‑initiated human subjects research projects and industry‑sponsored clinical trials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including patient interactions, consulting, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with standard MS Office software and database management, event planning and scheduling.
  • Ability to adapt and respond appropriately to competing priorities.
  • Highly self‑motivated ability to take initiative to improve existing processes.
  • Familiarity with NIH and federally funded research or training grants.
  • Experience working in a clinical setting or for research related care.
  • Skilled in conference planning and online meeting management.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Management experience.
  • Experience with large‑scale or multi‑site research studies.
  • Previous startup, regulatory, billing experience.
  • Experience working with American Indian or Alaska Native populations.
Pay Rate Information

The salary information provided below is for a full‑time position and will be prorated for part‑time.
