Respiratory Care Assistant

Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Respiratory Care Assistant assists the Respiratory Therapist by cleaning/disinfecting respiratory equipment; setting up and testing respiratory equipment; delivering/setting up/changing respiratory equipment at the bedside; and performing select patient care procedures/tests under the direction of a Respiratory Therapist.

• High School Diploma/GED
• Certification as a Nursing Assistant (NA‑C), or current enrollment with at least 3rd quarter standing in a therapist-level, Joint Review Committee for Respiratory Therapy Education (JRCRTE)-approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
• Current valid CPR certification required
• Basic computer skills required
• Understanding of respiratory equipment assembly, use and troubleshooting
• Working knowledge of respiratory protocols;
• Strong interpersonal skills
• The ability to attend to details and remain organized and calm during stressful situations required.
