Position: Radiologic Technologist-Paid Mammography Training-Part Time-Day-Capitol Hill

Job Summary

Provide mammography services to patients in accordance with physicians' orders. Prepare mammography rooms and diagnostic equipment. Perform high‑quality testing, operate equipment according to prescribed safety standards, and develop films. Exercise professional judgment and uphold medical ethics in the performance of diagnostic services. Apply knowledge of growth and development principles to identify requirements relative to age‑specific patients. Maintain strict patient and staff confidentiality.

Comply with all regulations pertaining to mammography (MQSA/ACR).

Essential Responsibilities

  • Diagnostic Testing:
    Performs mammography images through clinical protocols, positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic areas, respects comfort. Demonstrates knowledge to use radiological equipment, develops films with proper techniques, evaluates images for technical quality, and educates patients on procedures. Verifies procedures against physicians' orders, contacts physicians with discrepancies, and prepares contrast media as required.
  • Computer System:
    Ensures patient information is accurately entered into the departmental computer system and completes patient records for the appropriate procedures as directed in IDX‑Rad and IDX‑Mam.
  • Customer Service:
    Provides timely, responsive, expert services to patients, physicians, and staff. Informs consumers of delays, promotes patient‑focused care, and maintains confidentiality. Explains exam expectations and results communication.
  • Patient and Employee Safety:
    Maintains safe radiation levels, performs equipment checks, ensures adherence to regulatory standards, and responds to contrast reactions. Assists with first aid and crash cart procedures as necessary.
  • General Behavior:
    Reports unusual occurrences, adheres to shift schedules, keeps radiology rooms neat, participates in training and policy development, and works effectively as part of a team. Rotates shifts and assignments as required, including standing‑by call.

Education

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (Washington) required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support required at hire.

Additional Requirements

  • Communication, problem‑solving skills, and consistent excellent customer service.
  • State of Washington certification as Mammography Technologist and American Registry of Mammography Technologists (AART‑M) registration by hire date, or alternate training for radiology technicians with two years experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of mammography experience.
