Job Description
The Senior Medical Assistant licensed provides support and clinic coordination of multiple patient care services on multiple campuses, exercising independence in the planning and accomplishment of a wide spectrum of clerical duties.
Responsibilities include:
scheduling of new patients, follow-up clinic appointments, subsequent treatments, and requested diagnostic tests, acquiring of insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations, preparing and maintaining the patient’s medical record, reconciling billing issues, answering multiple phone lines and triaging phone calls. Excellent communication and problem solving skills around patient care and clinic matters are vital. Exceptional compassion, sensitivity, and emotional stability are necessary with the Cancer population.
As a member of the physician practice team, this position acts as a professional liaison with patients, families, other departments, and third‑party payers. This position also acts as a medical assistant in rooming patients, drawing blood (phlebotomy), injections and assisting in minor office procedures. This individual performs responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner. This individual will partner in the orientation and training of new staff.
These responsibilities are often carried out simultaneously with frequent interruption. In addition, this job may include other special project assignments as directed. All duties accomplished with an exceptional customer service approach (AIDET Level II) to optimize the patient’s experience in the Swedish system.

Graduate of certified medical assistant program - Upon hire:
Washington Medical Assistant Certification - Upon hire:
National Provider BLS - American Heart Association - Experienced in obtaining insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations
- Associate’s Degree, or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school with emphasis in healthcare
- 1 year of Medical assistant experience in a healthcare setting (i.e., physician’s office, scheduler, etc.)
$29.56 - $44.46. Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives or bonus opportunities.
