Description

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Developmental Medicine at the University of Washington invites applications for a Clinical Psychologist faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community.

Clinical Assistant Professors hold annual appointments that align with a 12‑month service period (July 1 – June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12‑month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12‑month period (July – June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine, Pediatrics has twenty‑one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments, including approximately 650 paid faculty members, 134 residents, 70 ACGME fellows, 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Children’s Research Institute (SCRI).

Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Children’s, UW Medicine, and FHCRC), and are part of the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan.

  • Conduct neurodevelopmental diagnostic evaluations (including ASD and I/DD) as part of the Child Development Clinic at IHDD with children, adolescents, and young adults as part of an interdisciplinary diagnostic team (speech and language, developmental pediatrics, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nutrition, social work, audiology, and family advocate).
  • Conduct developmental evaluations using the Bayley‑4, WPPSI‑IV, DAS‑II, or other appropriate assessment tools with children referred due to prematurity, low birth weight, or other high‑risk birth conditions as part of the Infant Development Follow‑Up Clinics.
  • Conduct developmental evaluations using the Bayley‑4, WPPSI‑IV, DAS‑II, or other appropriate assessment tools with children referred due to complex congenital cardiac disease as part of the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Clinic.
  • Supervise psychology trainees (post‑doctoral fellows, psychology interns, and practicum students) during neurodevelopmental and developmental evaluations.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Chair/Director by mutual agreement.
Qualifications
  • Must have a doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in clinical or school psychology, an internship from an APA‑approved program (or foreign equivalent) and be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington.
  • Extensive clinical experience in developmental disabilities, including autism.
  • Proficiency with the Bayley‑4, cognitive assessments, and ADOS‑2.
  • Experience with toddlers through young adults.

This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.

Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children’s University Medical Group practice plan.
