Sea Mar Community Health Centers is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides comprehensive health, behavioral health, and related services. We are recruiting for a full-time Mental Health Therapist II, III, or Licensed in Seattle, WA to provide individual and group counseling, case management, crisis stabilization, suicide risk assessment, and treatment planning. The therapist collaborates with medication providers, primary care physicians, and community agencies;

conducts accurate mental health diagnoses and develops treatment plans; and may work some evenings or outside-office settings as needed.

Position Summary:

The Mental Health Therapist supports a dynamic behavioral health program, with potential incentives based on weekly productivity. The role includes diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, crisis management, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams, including hospitalization referrals when appropriate.

Licensed Mental Health Therapist (Requirements and Responsibilities):

• Provide diagnostic assessments and referrals for psychiatric services.
• Offer individual counseling, crisis stabilization, and suicide risk assessment; develop and implement treatment plans.
• Coordinate case management with CDMHPs, inpatient facilities, and other treatment partners; ensure compliance with relevant protocols during hospitalization and discharge planning.
• Provide clinical supervision to other clinicians pursuing licensing requirements.
• Support program development, policy/procedure development, and compliance with WACs, RCWs, and clinical contracts.

Education and/or Experience for a Licensed Therapist:

• Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work with coursework in psychological diagnostics.
• Active license from the Washington State Department of Health (Mental Health Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Independent Clinical Social Worker) and meet Mental Health Professional criteria.
• Active licensure with a Washington State Mental Health Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Independent Clinical Social Worker license.

Additional Requirements:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire and ongoing validity.
• TB test annually and at time of hire.
• Minority mental health therapist designation as required by WAC.

Mental Health Therapist III: The MHT III provides diagnostic assessments, referrals for psychiatric services, case management, individual counseling, crisis stabilization, suicide risk assessment, and leads groups. Assists the Program Manager with program development, policy/procedure development, and regulatory compliance.

Education and/or Experience for MHT III:

• Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work with coursework in psychological diagnostics.
• Four or more years of field experience and Mental Health Professional criteria.
• Active license for Mental Health Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Clinical Social Worker (Agency Affiliated Counselor or equivalent) in Washington State; pending status may be allowed up to 60 days if applied for within 7 days of offer.

Additional Requirements:

• Minority mental health therapist designation as required by WAC.
• Current TB test and BLS CPR required within 90 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.

Mental Health Therapist II: Diagnostic assessments, referrals for psychiatric services, and coordination of care with teams. Provides individual counseling, crisis stabilization, suicide risk assessment, and leads groups. Supports program development and administrative tasks as directed.

Education and/or Experience for MHT II:

• Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work with coursework in psychological diagnostics.
• Up to three (3) years of field experience and Mental Health Professional criteria.
• Active license or pending status for Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor or equivalent licensure (including MHP eligibility).

Additional Requirements:

• Current TB test and BLS CPR required within 90 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.
