The Contract Clinician is a full-time or part time, Telehealth or hybrid counselor. This role includes providing individual, group, and family counseling, conducting clinical assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, and documenting client progress in accordance with professional and regulatory standards. The clinician will use evidence-based interventions to support clients with mental health conditions, substance use recovery, and life transitions, while maintaining a therapeutic, non-judgmental environment.
Day-to-day responsibilities also involve collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, participating in case consultations, coordinating care with community resources, and contributing to program development and quality improvement efforts. The Contract Clinician is expected to maintain professional boundaries, uphold ethical standards, and engage in ongoing professional development.
- Clinical counseling and psychotherapy skills, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and delivery of evidence-based interventions.
- Experience in behavioral health and recovery services, particularly working with mental health concerns, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions.
- Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills to build rapport, maintain therapeutic alliances, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and case records in accordance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and client-centered care practices.
- Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field.
- Relevant state licensure or eligibility (e.g., LMHC, LCSW, LMFT, LICSW, or equivalent), in good standing. Will also take associate level professionals and will provide licensure supervision either through Penguin Counseling or supervisors contracted with Penguin Counseling and Recovery Services.
- Experience providing services in outpatient, community mental health, or recovery-oriented settings is preferred.
- Ability to work full time on-site in the Greater Seattle Area and maintain professional reliability and punctuality.
- Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and ongoing professional learning, including supervision and continuing education.
