Description

The Senior Patient Services Specialist plays a vital role in supporting patient care and clinic coordination across multiple Swedish Cancer Institute campuses. This position provides comprehensive patient orientation and independently manages a broad range of complex clerical and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key responsibilities include scheduling new patient consultations, follow-up clinic appointments, subsequent treatments, and requested diagnostic tests; obtaining insurance verifications, referrals, and authorizations; preparing and maintaining accurate patient medical records; reconciling billing issues; answering multiple phone lines; and appropriately triaging incoming calls.

This role requires exceptional communication and problem-solving skills related to patient care and clinic operations. A high level of compassion, sensitivity, and emotional resilience is essential when working with an oncology patient population.

Required Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of Oncology administrative training within six months
  • Medical Terminology Certification or successful completion of a Medical Terminology course within 6 months (180 days) of hire
  • 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred (i.e. physician’s office, scheduler, etc.)
  • Experienced in obtaining insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree emphasis in Health Care or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with emphasis in Health Care.

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
