Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Vice President of Scientific Publications to lead the development and delivery of high-quality, data-driven scientific content across a range of therapeutic areas. This role is ideal for a seasoned publications expert with deep experience in medical communications and a passion for shaping publication strategy, guiding cross-functional teams, and partnering with biopharma clients at a senior level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead scientific strategy and publication planning across key client accounts, ensuring alignment with client objectives, compliance standards (e.g., GPP, ICMJE), and industry best practices
- Provide scientific oversight and direction for the development of abstracts, posters, manuscripts, congress presentations, and other scientific deliverables
- Serve as the senior scientific voice for clients, offering strategic counsel and building trusted partnerships with key stakeholders (e.g., Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, KOLs)
- Manage and mentor a team of scientific directors, medical writers, and editors, fostering professional development and ensuring scientific excellence
- Collaborate cross-functionally with account, creative, and digital teams to ensure integrated and effective communications solutions
- Contribute to business development through strategic input on proposals, pitches, and organic account growth
- Stay current on relevant therapeutic areas, industry trends, and publication guidelines to inform and evolve scientific strategy
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD) in a life sciences or healthcare-related field
- 10+ years of experience in medical communications with a strong focus on publications and scientific strategy
- Demonstrated experience leading publication planning and delivery for global pharmaceutical or biotech clients
- Exceptional scientific writing and communication skills, with a strong attention to detail and editorial accuracy
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and inspire scientific teams
- Strong business acumen and a client-focused mindset
Preferred:
- Oncology, rare disease, or immunology therapeutic experience
- Familiarity with digital and multichannel publications strategies
