Position SummaryThis full‑time Group Life Counselor position is part of the Behavioral Health Department, located at Renacer Youth Treatment Center, an inpatient facility for young adults suffering from substance abuse. The role requires direct services to patients in a residential setting, including group care, intake procedures, evaluation, individual and group counseling, milieu management, and supervision of patients.
Group Life Counselor IEntry‑level Human Service position as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. Responsibilities include delivering direct services such as group care, intake procedures, evaluation, individual and group counseling, milieu management, and patient supervision. The candidate is expected to have a “base to moderate” understanding of these services and recognize chemical dependency as a treatable illness.
Group Life Counselor IIMid‑level Human Service position with a multidisciplinary team. The role involves providing the full range of direct services to out‑of‑control, high‑risk, chronic runaway youth, many of whom have a primary diagnosis of chemical dependency and may also have mental health issues. Desired attributes include good character, physical and emotional stability, and suitability to meet the needs of the adolescent population. The candidate is expected to have a “moderate to complete” understanding of the services listed.
GLCII
– Education and/or Experience
- B.A. degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or two years of experience working with high‑risk youth
- Background check from DSHS and Washington State Patrol at hire and yearly; a Washington State driver’s license if applicable
- Current CPR certification (renewed every two years) and first‑aid certification (renewed every three years)
Senior Human Service position responsible for delivering direct services to patients, facilitating treatment educational groups, and providing individual or group counseling. These patients primarily have a diagnosis of chemical dependency with possible co‑occurring mental health conditions. The GLC III collaborates closely with CDP in treatment activities.
GLC III– Education and/or Experience
- B.A. degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Addictions, or a related field
- Associates degree in Chemical Dependency and at least two years’ experience working with at‑risk populations
- Experience with high‑risk youth or adults preferred
- Current CPR certification (renewed every two years) and first‑aid certification (renewed every three years)
