Overview

Assistant or Associate Professor, Non-Malignant Hematology, on the Clinician Scholar pathway. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT). Primary appointment is in the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutch and a joint appointment in the Division of Hematology and Oncology, Department of Medicine  academic appointment at UW will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank.

UW Assistant Professors on the WOT track are eligible for multi-year appointments, and Associate Professors on the WOT track hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1 – June 30). Faculty with a 12-month service period are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period, providing the equivalent of one month for paid time off.

The selected candidate is expected to contribute to delivering outstanding clinical care and developing excellence in clinical research in non-malignant hematology. The non-malignant hematology group is committed to outstanding patient care, and members of the disease program are expected to participate in the clinical and research mission. There is opportunity to conduct clinical research with existing comprehensive clinical databases and ongoing prospective studies, and the candidate will have the opportunity and resources to develop their own clinical research programs.

Responsibilities

Fred Hutch and University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Teaching responsibilities include oversight of advanced practice providers and fellows during inpatient and outpatient rotations, delivery of informal teaching sessions, and formal lectures to providers and the general medical community. Faculty are expected to perform their primary activities on-site at Fred Hutch.

Responsibilities also include participating in the clinical and research mission of the non-malignant hematology program and contributing to its clinical care and research initiatives.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a record of and primary interest in hematology-oncology, with a focus on non-malignant hematologic disorders, especially disorders of coagulation and cellular hematology, as well as an active clinical research interest demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications in the diagnosis and treatment of non-malignant hematology.

Applicants must have an MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent), board certification in Hematology, Medical Oncology or Hematology/Oncology (or foreign equivalent), and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington.

  • Compensation and Benefits

    The annual base salary range for this position is from $318,350 to $343,181 for Assistant Professor and from $370,098 to $396,745 for Associate Professor. Pay is based on degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance or a sign-on bonus.
