Downtown Emergency Service Center seeks a Substance Use Disorder Professional to provide assessment, counseling, and care coordination for adults experiencing homelessness, serious mental illness, and substance use disorders in Seattle. In this trauma-informed, harm-reduction role, you'll deliver evidence-based individual and group services, support crisis intervention, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve housing stability, health, and recovery outcomes for highly vulnerable clients in an equity-centered nonprofit environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive substance use assessments and individualized treatment planning for adults experiencing homelessness and co-occurring disorders
  • Deliver evidence-based counseling and brief interventions using harm reduction and trauma-informed approaches
  • Coordinate care with internal DESC teams, medical providers, case managers, and community partners to support client stability
  • Monitor client progress, adjust treatment plans, and maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
  • Facilitate groups and psychoeducation on recovery, relapse prevention, and coping skills
  • Engage hard-to-reach clients through outreach in shelters, supportive housing, and community settings
  • Support crisis intervention, de-escalation, and safety planning in collaboration with multidisciplinary staff
  • Ensure services align with Medicaid, state, and agency documentation and compliance standards
  • Participate in case conferences, supervision, and ongoing training to enhance clinical skills
  • Advocate for client needs, access to housing, and wraparound services within an equity-centered framework
