DescriptionAmerican Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist with cardiac experience for a busy multi-specialty OR in an acute care hospital setting.
Details- Acute care Level 3 trauma hospital OR unit with 22 suites (capacity for up to 26) across three floors
- Wide range of case types including GYN, Uro, Vascular, Plastic, Ortho (total hips/knees), Neuro, Cardiovascular, Thoracic, General (Breast/HPB/Bariatric), Sports Med (Hand/Podiatry), Kidney/pancreatic transplants, and ENT procedures (FESS, septoplasty, cochlear implant, tympanoplasty, laryngoscopy, thyroid/parathyroid)
- Utilizes Da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system for Gyn, Uro, and General cases
- Cerner EMR used for charting
- 4x10 shift schedule with variable days (Monday-Friday) and start times of 0630, 0900, or 1100
- Start times remain consistent within the same week; later start times on Tuesdays and Fridays for in-services and team meetings
- Call requirement of 1 shift (weeknight or weekend) per 4-week schedule; weekday call runs end of shift to 7am, weekend call is a 24-hour rotation
- 30-minute call response time with on-site call room available
- No floating requirements
- No holiday call requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of scrubbing experience required
- Cardiac surgery experience required
- Da Vinci Xi robotic experience required (Gyn, Uro, General)
- ENT experience required, including FESS, septoplasty, cochlear implant, tympanoplasty, laryngoscopy, and thyroid/parathyroid procedures
- BLS certification required
- Must be registered as a CST with Washington State (national certification not required)
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program
- Active Washington State license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- License required if applicable
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- First-time travelers welcome to apply
- Physicians and team members are noted as helpful and supportive teachers
- Travelers tend to extend assignments when possible
- Unit orientation includes HR and OR leadership sessions plus a 2-day scavenger hunt shadowing a surgical tech
- Bring personal earphones for online training during the first week of orientation
- Teal scrubs provided by facility
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment (3 shifts for shorter assignments)
