Radiation Therapy Specialist / Radiation Therapist

UW Medical Center – Montlake – Radiation Oncology

Work Schedule

Full-Time; 1.0 FTE; 40 Hours per Week on a Day Shift schedule.

Primary

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver a planned course of basic and routine radiation therapy such as 4-field pelvis, anterior and posterior lung, whole brain, 3-field head and neck, breast tangents, and external electron beam utilizing radiation therapy equipment.
  • Acquire competency in multiple specialized treatment modalities and methods including Total Body Irradiation, IMRT, IGRT, Fractionated Stereotactic and Neutron regimens.
  • Observe patient conditions, recognize the need for emotional and psychological support, and refer patients to departmental staff and other health‑care professionals as necessary.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate daily records of technical, legal and statistical components of treatment.
  • Check patient prescription and treatment records for errors.
  • Perform daily quality assurance tests on radiation therapy equipment.
  • Assist radiation oncologists in tumor localization, simulation and dosimetry procedures using CT scanners, simulators, computers and other equipment.
  • Acquire CT images as required for planning of radiation therapy.
Required Position Qualifications
  • Licensed by the State of Washington to practice and administer radiation.
  • Registered as a radiation therapy technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent organization and possess at least six months of experience in one or more specialized radiation therapy areas.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications except where legal requirements such as a license, certification, or registration apply.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay Range Minimum: $50.86 hourly
  • Pay Range Maximum: $74.95 hourly
