Position: Field Access Manager (FAM) - Mid-South

Cytokinetics is a specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company, building on its over 25 years of pioneering scientific innovations in muscle biology, and advancing a pipeline of potential new medicines for patients suffering from diseases of cardiac muscle dysfunction. The Field Access Manager (FAM) is a field-based access specialist responsible for supporting appropriate access within their assigned territory consistent with FDA-approved labeling and applicable payer requirements by proactively identifying, resolving, and preventing reimbursement and access barriers.

This role partners closely with sales, market access, patient services, HUB vendors, specialty pharmacies, and payer stakeholders to ensure patients experience a streamlined path from prescription to therapy initiation and continuity of access without offering clinical persistence coaching to HCPs or patients. The FAM serves as the connective tissue between field execution and access strategy, translating payer dynamics, benefit designs, and HUB data into actionable field solutions that identify and address administrative access barriers and support compliant patient services operations.

This FAM will support the Mid South territory, which includes Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The FAM is expected to travel throughout the assigned territory to engage with healthcare providers, patient support stakeholders, specialty pharmacies, and other access-related partners.

To maximize territory coverage and responsiveness, the ideal candidate will reside within the territory and be located within a 100-mile radius of a major commercial airport.

Responsibilities
  • Lead proactive identification and resolution of patient access barriers across payer coverage, prior authorization, step edits, copay assistance, and specialty pharmacy routing.
  • Partner with HCP offices to support benefits verification, education regarding payer documentation requirements and available patient support resources.
  • Analyze and interpret HUB, specialty pharmacy, and payer data to identify systemic access gaps and implement compliance-approved process improvements or access education.
  • Serve as a field access subject matter expert, providing approved access education to internal stakeholders consistent with compliance-approved materials; no patient-specific or account-specific case information may be shared with Sales.
  • Collaborate with Market Access, Patient Services, and HUB vendors to improve pull-through efficiency and resolve recurring access friction points.
  • Support launch readiness and lifecycle management by identifying access barriers early and executing field-based mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor key access performance metrics (e.g., time to fill, PA approval rates, abandonment rates, conversion rates) and translate insights into action plans.
  • Manage high-priority case escalations involving complex reimbursement or payer issues requiring cross-functional coordination.
  • Conduct payer landscape monitoring at the regional level, identifying policy changes or coverage shifts impacting patient access.
  • Deliver structured field insights to cross-functional partners to inform access strategy, HUB optimization, and patient support program enhancements.
  • Maintain compliant, accurate documentation of case activity, interventions, and outcomes in CRM systems.
  • Act as a bridge between strategy and execution, ensuring that access strategies are not just designed, but actually working in the field.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in business, life sciences, healthcare administration, or related field (advanced degree preferred but not required).
  • 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical field reimbursement, patient access services, HUB services, specialty pharmacy, or market access support roles.
  • Strong understanding of payer dynamics, reimbursement pathways, prior authorization workflows, and specialty pharmacy distribution models.
  • Experience working with HUB systems, case management platforms, and specialty pharmacy data feeds.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex access and reimbursement cases in a field-based or customer-facing role.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical access data sources and processes (claims, benefit verification, SP reporting, payer policy tracking).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complex reimbursement scenarios into clear, actionable steps.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with HCP offices, field teams, and internal…
