Sea Mar is a mandatory COVID-19 and flu vaccine organization Position Summary The Echocardiogram Technologist (Cardiac Sonographer) is responsible for obtaining high quality recordings of ultrasound images of the heart and related structures to be interpreted by the Cardiologist. The echo tech will be tasked with completing resting echocardiogram and complete stress echocardiogram as required. This is a technical position requiring a highly skilled operator with knowledge of the various types of ultrasound procedures.
Work situations may require clinical interpretive knowledge, independent judgement, initiative, and ingenuity in performing procedures. This position will interact with patients, family members, and physicians as well as schedulers, MA’s and cardiologist on staff.

Job DescriptionUsing standardized protocols as a baseline, performs cardiovascular ultrasound diagnostic procedures:
- Thoroughly explains procedure to be performed; facilitates patients' cooperation; anticipate, meet and exceed expectations and reduce anxiety of our patients with AIDET (Acknowledge – Introduce – Duration – Explanation – Thank You).
- Obtains patient history before procedure; accurately documents all relevant information; obtains all other diagnostic information needed to enhance interpretation of the exam.
- Confirm patient identity, referring physician, and reason for the exam.
- Complete ultrasound exam accurately and timely, adapting protocol according to degree and type of pathology encountered, while adhering to standards of Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for Echocardiography for both complete resting echocardiogram and stress (exercise treadmill) echocardiogram.
- Observes patient during the exam, monitoring patient’s condition and safety.
Performs quality control (weekly) and cleaning procedures (daily) on all equipment:
- Performs daily maintenance such as sanitizing the transducers, cables, beds, or other items as needed after each patient.
