Job Description University of Washington Medical Center – Northwest – Radiology has an outstanding opportunity for a MRI Level II Trained Radiology Technical Assistant.

WORK SCHEDULE

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare patient for diagnostic examination and assists technologist with limited procedures, under supervision, includes but is not limited to:
Greeting patient and escorts to appropriate exam room. Using a professional, ethical, and caring demeanor, prepares and informs patients of exam procedure:
Identify self, confirm name of patient and type of exam, explain the length of exam, and introduce technologist to the patient. If so assigned, assist with transferring and positioning the patient safely and properly for examination, under the direct supervision of the technologist.

Transport patients, if so assigned, including but not limited to:
Utilize established patient transportation procedures and safety measures. Maintain observation of patient during transport. Notify nurse immediately if patient experiences distress or health problems. Maintain transport equipment; assure equipment is clean, in good working order, and prepared for transport use. Lift, position, and transfer patients, using safe-lifting techniques and tools.

Documentation, including but not limited to:

  • Use RIS/PACS effectively to input/order/edit/cancel exams.
  • Accurately assist with data input (exam orders, patient data, patient charges, etc.) and required paperwork and records.
  • Effectively use the computer and NWH software applications to access information.

Coordinate and optimize customer service and workflow, including but not limited to:

  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills with patients, physician office staff, coworkers, management, vendors, etc.
  • Answer telephone using defined etiquette standards; transfers calls and takes messages.
  • Answer and troubleshoot questions and follows through on inquiries.
  • Relay information to technical staff as appropriate.

In order to provide a high level of customer service and necessary coverage, all staff members are required to assist in other areas (such as order entry, image library, scheduling, patient transport); work weekends, other shifts, holidays; and help co-workers with workload and projects.

Maintain environment, including but not limited to:

  • Set up exam rooms, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are ready.
  • Inventory supplies and linens.
  • Restock rooms as needed.
  • Clean and tidy exam rooms, patient holding rooms, wait rooms, etc.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent or equivalent. Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned unit/department.
  • DESIRED MRI Level II-trained 1 year patient care experience preferred.
  • LICENSE REQUIRED CPR or BLS certification required, must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Certification as a C.N.A in the State of Washington preferred.
