Description:

Position/Specialty:
Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant.

Shift: 5x8s, Tuesday through Saturday from 13:30 to 22:00.

The first week will be Monday to Friday, dayshift from 06:00 to 14:30.Years of experience required: 1 to 2 years preferred.

Follows laboratory protocols, policies, and safety procedures.

Answers technical questions relating to laboratory procedures and policies.

Troubleshoots and resolves problems and customer service issues.

Examples include pending orders and specimen draws and finding lost specimens.

Handles add-on tests and scans specimens into the storage application.

When unable to resolve an issue in a timely manner, asks for supervisor or lead assistance.

Reports as assigned, locates patient results, and generates reports.

Competently uses computer systems.

Maintains a clean and organized working environment.

Cleans and prepares work areas.

Ensures assigned areas are stocked with appropriate supplies and reagents.

Takes inventory and orders supplies when needed.

Handles incoming supplies properly.

Maintains assigned equipment according to laboratory procedures.

Disposes of specimens and other hazardous wastes safely and appropriately.

In the event of low census, Healthcare Providers may be called off without charge or placed on-call for standard on-call rate.

Staffing may vary depending on department needs.

Preferred experience includes working with neonates, infants, and pediatrics.

Experience with Sunquest and Epic is preferred.

Candidates may float within the hospital as necessary.

Background checks may be required upon submission.
