Patient Placement - Staffing Coordinator

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Staffing & Bed Control Assistant, you are responsible for ensuring efficient staffing and patient placement across the hospital on a daily basis, adapting to changes in patient acuity and census.

Every day, you will coordinate human resource functions, such as recording and communicating sick leave to appropriate department managers, maintaining schedule changes and gathering/reporting data relating to productive and nonproductive work hours. This position also coordinates the placement of hospital patients through maintenance of a current on line database of patients and their locations, and an availability status of beds throughout the hospital.

To be successful, you will excel at optimizing hospital resources and ensuring seamless patient flow. You will leverage exceptional organizational and communication skills to administer daily staffing levels that align with patient acuity and census, meticulously track absences, and manage schedule changes. Simultaneously, you will expertly oversee bed placement management by maintaining real‑time awareness of patient locations and bed availability, collaborating with clinical teams to make timely and appropriate assignments.

Your success hinges on accurate data maintenance and reporting, providing essential insights into staffing and bed availability to support critical data‑driven decisions that enhance operational efficiency and patient care.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, computer applications and organizational policies and procedures related to the admission process and staffing needs.
• Must have ability to prioritize work flow and have excellent communication and customer service skills.
