We’re currently seeking a highly motivated and energetic human resource professional to join our team as a Human Resource Generalist at Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS), our manufacturing and distribution facility in Fullerton, CA. The role supports our range of industrial fasteners and is critical to our mission in aerospace and defense and commercial transportation.
Essential Functions- Supports all aspects of internal and external recruitment and selection processes for hourly positions.
- Completes all new hire documents and data input.
- Conducts phone, Skype and/or in-person interviews.
- Stays up-to-date with current recruiting methods.
- Attends job fairs and career events.
- Coordinates, updates, and delivers the new hire orientation program.
- Contacts new employees and prepares onboarding sessions.
- Processes employee status changes such as promotions, salary adjustments, new hires, and terminations.
- Tracks and prepares reports on employee status changes for the month, quarter, and year.
- Assists with the preparation and completion of the annual affirmative action plan.
- Knowledgeable in all areas of Human Resources, employment, employee policies and procedures, employee records, leave of absences, benefits, compensation, and employee relations.
- Advises managers, supervisors, and leads on policies and procedures, various state and federal regulations, salary-related issues, and effective HR practices regarding employee issues.
- Investigates charges of alleged discrimination based on race, sex, age, religion, national origin, and physical/mental disabilities.
- Handles employee relations and provides feedback to employees and the leadership team.
- Initiates and coordinates various activities designed to promote and maintain a high level of employee morale.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager of Human Resources.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of management and employees.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented; with excellent time management skills.
- Discrete, flexible, and cooperative.
- Ability to update data in Human Resources Information Systems in conjunction with Shared Services.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 1 year of HR experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
- Familiarity with human resources information systems and applications and demonstrated proficiency in computer software programs.
