This role operates at the intersection of technology, law, compliance, and business strategy, translating regulatory requirements into concrete, scalable solutions. We serve as internal advisors, partnering with teams to solve complex privacy issues in areas including global expansion, new financial products, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and advertising, in a privacy-forward manner.
As a Senior Privacy Program Manager-Technical, you will help enhance Remitly s culture of privacy by leading privacy and regulatory programs with internal partners. These programs involve privacy impact assessments, assessing and mitigating privacy risks, and creating compliance strategies under relevant data protection laws with the DPO. They also promote a privacy-centric culture across the organization.

Responsibilities- Ensure Regulatory Compliance:
Stay up to date with global privacy regulations and help create privacy strategies that consider risks to customers, the business, and employees. Conduct regular assessments to identify and address privacy risks and vulnerabilities under the direction of the Director of Global Privacy. Lead efforts to implement and maintain privacy policies, procedures, and documentation. Oversee and independently conduct privacy impact assessments for projects.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate privacy-by-design principles. Manage an incident response plan for internal data spills and other privacy incidents. Lead investigations and coordinate responses to privacy-related incidents. - Foster Third-Party Privacy
Risk Management:
Collaborate with the vendor evaluation team to advocate privacy-focused vendor evaluations and manage privacy risks identified with prospective vendors. - Enhance Privacy Program Leadership:
Provide strategic guidance on privacy compliance, collaborate with senior leadership to integrate privacy considerations into business processes, present regular reports on the program s status, and build communication and reporting mechanisms to raise awareness of the Global Privacy Program. - Deliver Continuous Improvement:
Monitor industry trends and privacy issues, conduct periodic assessments of program effectiveness, deliver privacy training, and promote a culture of privacy across the organization. - Launch New Privacy Products/Programs:
Partner with Global Privacy Product and engineering teams to launch new products, develop program strategies for emerging opportunities, and ensure high-quality, compliant launches.
- Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
- 5+ years of program management in tech; experience in Fin Tech/payments or similarly regulated, global environments is preferable.
- Knowledge of global privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA) and other data protection laws.
- 5+ years working directly with software engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of technical architecture and building blocks; familiarity with AWS offerings is a plus.
- Understanding of software development processes and tools (version control, CI/CD, monitoring, alerting; Git Hub, Jenkins a plus).
- Experience managing and delivering complex, cross-functional regulatory projects and influencing non-direct reports.
