The Opportunity with Mc Kinstry

The Senior Business Analyst - Workday will play a key role in leading the requirements gathering, analysis, and stakeholder alignment for continuous improvement of our current Workday application. This role bridges business needs with technical solutions, ensuring the application is successfully implemented, meets organizational objectives, and delivers measurable value. The Senior Business Analyst will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, project managers, HRIS Administrators, developers, and testers as we deploy additional system functionality.

The Senior Business Analyst may provide guidance to other team members regarding best practices and methods.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Requirements Analysis

  • Lead discovery sessions with stakeholders to understand business processes, pain points, and opportunities.
  • Gather, document, and validate detailed business and functional requirements.
  • Translate business needs into clear user stories, use cases, workflows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure alignment of requirements with strategic goals and regulatory/compliance needs.
  • Understanding of the broader HR technology ecosystem and how Workday fits within an integrated HR tech stack.
  • Awareness of industry trends, best practices, and evolving HR technology capabilities.
  • Ability to bring informed recommendations grounded in both market knowledge and practical constraints.

Software Support

  • Bring discipline, transparency, and follow-through to Workday-related delivery.
  • Partner with technical teams to validate solution design and ensure requirements are technically feasible.
  • Responsible to ensure integrations are scoped, configured, and tested per requirements.
  • Conduct gap analysis between existing processes/systems and the new application capabilities.
  • Assist in planning and executing general and user acceptance testing (UAT), including test case development and defect triage.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams.
  • Facilitate workshops, presentations, and decision-making sessions.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure clear communication of project scope, timelines, and impacts.

Change Management & Training

  • Support development of training materials, user guides, and process documentation.
  • Provide input to change management strategies to drive user adoption.
  • Help ensure smooth transition from project to operational support.

Project Leadership

  • Provide thought leadership and domain expertise to improve project delivery outcomes.
  • Identify and track risks, dependencies, and gaps related to Workday delivery and proactively drive resolution.
  • Build strong working relationships with HR leaders, Technology partners, vendors, and business stakeholders.
What You Need to Succeed at Mc Kinstry

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 5+ years of business analysis experience, with at least 3 years in HRIS Workday systems
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with process modeling, requirements management tools (e.g., Azure Dev Ops, JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart).
  • Preferred experience in the construction or manufacturing environment and/or project based financial tracking (e.g., Procore and D365)

Skills/Competencies

  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business language and vice versa.
