Overview
The Network Engineer III is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and administering network infrastructure, ensuring secure and efficient operation within the customer’s organization while working on-site and a telework work environment. This includes managing authentication services, performing network administration tasks, supporting secure remote connectivity, and handling network cabling and switch deployments. The Network Engineer III will also manage network management software and enterprise client tools to monitor and report system status and activities.
The Network Engineer III plays a crucial role in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of the customer’s network infrastructure, supporting both on-site and remote users.

- Configure and maintain access and authentication for devices
- Assist in the operation of network services
- Perform network administration tasks such as adding and deleting users, controlling access rights, managing services, and monitoring the network
- Configure and administer network management software, including software metering, PC hardware and software inventories, and remote control of networked PCs
- Support secure remote connectivity through VPNs, ensuring reliable and secure access for remote users
- Configure and administer enterprise client tools used to monitor and report system status and activities
- Oversee organization-wide network cabling installation, maintenance, and documentation
- Configure and deploy phone closet switches, ensuring proper network connectivity and performance
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation for network cabling, configurations, and administration tasks
- Collaborate effectively with IT team members and other stakeholders to address network issues and improve infrastructure

Basic Qualifications- 4+ years of experience managing a complex network
- BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering or similar disciplines OR relevant work experience
Relevant network certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+) - Experience in LAN Administration, Network DDI, Network Access Control, Firewall Services, DMZ/Public Network Administration, Network Security
- Proficiency in configuring and maintaining authentication services and network management software
- Strong understanding of network protocols, cabling standards, and switch configuration
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and enterprise client tools
- Must be available to respond to network issues and emergencies as needed. After-hours support may be needed.
- Network Cabling Basics, Network DDI (DNSSec, DNS Encryption), Network Administration, Authentication Services, Network Security
- Expertise in configuring and managing LDAP, Active Directory, and RADIUS authentication systems
- LAN Administration, Network DDI, Network Access Control, Firewall Services, DMZ/Public Network Administration, and Network Security
- Proven experience in network administration and infrastructure support.
- Experience using RADIUS, DDI, RAS, and VPN systems
- Federal government experience
- Network Cabling Basics, Network DDI (DNSSec, DNS Encryption), Network Administration, Authentication Services, Network Security (apply security baselines (STIG) to network equipment
- Proficiency in configuring and maintaining authentication services and network management software
- Strong understanding of network protocols, cabling standards, and switch configuration
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and enterprise client tools
- Relevant network certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+) are preferred
Ability to obtain a security clearance.
