Senior Principal Network Developer

OCI's Backbone Network Engineering team needs a Senior Principal Network Developer to support the design, deployment, and operation of a large‑scale global Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environment. This role focuses on developing and supporting network fabric and systems, combining deep networking protocol expertise with programming skills to automate the production environment. The work involves managing hundreds of thousands of network devices that support millions of servers across a mix of dedicated backbone infrastructure and the Internet.

• Extensive experience in global routing, backbone, and edge networking.
• Strong automation and network troubleshooting skills.
• Service provider or cloud‑scale physical networking experience.
• Excellent documentation and process design abilities.

Lead network lifecycle management programs by defining high‑level objectives and delivery procedures. Organize project technical milestones and supporting tasks, often acting as a project technical lead for a small team of engineers. Advise project managers and coordinate with leadership across the organization. Serve as a technical SME in cross‑functional activities, providing guidance on project requirements, specifications, and documentation. Break down high‑level architectures into detailed designs and oversee multiple engineers in developing complex network solutions.

Coordinate with supporting service teams to ensure solutions are supported by monitoring and automation systems. Act as a Tier‑2 or specialized escalation point for network events, providing break‑fix support for large‑scale incidents and driving resolution of complex network issues. Perform root cause analysis and develop scripts to automate non‑traditional tasks. Participate in the design and delivery of network automation projects, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle.

Provide coaching and technical guidance to junior engineers.

Collaborate with vendor engineering and account managers to address current business or operational issues. Participate in RFQ/RFP development and lead the adoption of new vendor hardware. Maintain active communication with product teams, networking leadership, and PMO to assess gaps, solutions, and needs.

Hiring range in USD from $120,100 – $251,600 per year. Eligibility for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral may apply.
