We are seeking a Software Asset Management (SAM) Senior Manager responsible for leading Boeing’s SAM strategy by establishing a clear governance framework and ensuring consistent execution across a global, matrixed environment. This role delivers meaningful visibility into software usage and compliance so the business can make informed financial and operational decisions. The position also ensures the company is prepared for and responsive to audits by maintaining strong oversight of licensing and entitlement data.

A key part of the role is building trust and alignment with teams across the enterprise, such as Information Technology (IT), Procurement, Security and Legal, as well as with external vendors. By coordinating communication and driving shared accountability, the SAM manager helps translate complex, cross‑functional activities into cohesive SAM initiatives that support broader business goals.

Position Responsibilities
  • Develop and build an end‑to‑end SAM governance function supported by standardized policies, processes, procedures and tools in a matrixed, global environment, including but not limited to:

    • Maintaining a centralized and secure repository of software license keys, entitlements, certificates, and digital credentials in Service Now

    • Monitoring and tracking license expirations, renewals, and usage metrics to ensure compliance and business continuity

    • Collaborating with Procurement, IT, Security teams and others to support software acquisition and renewal processes

    • Ensuring proper documentation and lifecycle management of software licenses, including versioning and vendor terms

    • Auditing and reconciling license usage data across various discovery tools

    • Establishing and executing procedures for key rotation, revocation, and secure disposal

    • Supporting onboarding/offboarding processes related to software access and credentials

  • Provide reporting and insights into license utilization, gaps, and optimization opportunities

  • Respond to internal audits, vendor audits, and compliance assessments, when called upon

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders, peers, and external partners to foster collaboration and drive SAM success

  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with IT, Procurement, Security, Legal and other groups as necessary to gain clarification of ongoing activities and embed requirements in SAM initiatives

  • Coordinate commitments and communications with internal and external stakeholders to fulfill strategic initiatives

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • 7+ years of experience in IT Asset Management (ITAM), Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Security, or related IT operational roles

  • 5+ years of experience in a managerial role

  • 3+ years of experience in general software licensing models (e.g., perpetual, subscription, user/device‑based, SaaS, concurrent, etc.) and vendor terms (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, etc.)

  • Experience working with ITAM tools (e.g., Service Now, Flexera, etc.)

  • Experience working in a cross‑functional environment with all levels in the business from individual contributors to executive leadership

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Certifications such as Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), ITIL Foundation, CompTIA Security+ or equivalent security knowledge, etc.
