Network Development Engineer, Amazon Event Networking

Amazon's Event Network team is looking to hire Network Engineers to help scale and automate one of the world's advanced event networks. The Event Network provides network connectivity for attendees and services at Amazon's premier events such as re:

Invent. In this role you will look for innovative and creative ways to automate our network deployment, deliver next‑gen solutions, and optimize operational tasks.

• Be responsible for deploying network infrastructure for all of our events.
• Deploy, scale and automate our network.
• Identify opportunities and develop tooling to increase scaling velocity and quality.
• Contribute software development to existing and new services.
• Create simple, repeatable processes, and improve upon existing processes.
• Work closely with our internal customers on designs/solutions, bringing those designs/solutions from concept to production.
• Create and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.
• Work closely with our teams in defining the platforms and frameworks that allow us to scale.

• 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience.
• 4+ years of experience in a Linux/Unix environment.
• Experience with IP networking fundamentals and TCP/IP, UDP, DNS & DHCP.
• Experience in Java/Perl/Python based automation.

• 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl.
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems, or experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
• Experience in oral and written communication in English.
• Knowledge of core internet technologies, including DHCP, DNS, mail transport, TCP/IP, and network file systems.
• Experience with router, switch, wireless controller, or firewall vendor platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Arista, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.

The base salary range for this position is $ to $ USD annually for Seattle, WA. For the virtual location the same salary range applies.
