Machine Learning Engineer Graduate; TikTok E-Commerce - Conversational AI BS​/MS

Responsibilities

Our team creates next‑generation chatbot and machine translation solutions to enhance the Tik Tok Shopping experience worldwide. Engineers will build and optimize intelligent customer service, machine translation, and multi‑modal AIGC models that enable conversational experiences powered by advanced large language models.

• Develop and optimize the intelligent customer service system for Tik Tok Shopping, collaborating closely with product and operation teams to understand user intent, design excellent conversational experiences, and deliver solutions using LLM technology. Build NLP models (text classification, machine reading, summarization) and prediction models (question prediction, chatbot action prediction).
• Build and improve the machine‑translation service for Tik Tok Shopping to support cross‑region product listings, buyer‑seller communication, and commenting. Design models that handle conversational contexts and generate text from multi‑modal inputs.
• Create and fine‑tune a multi‑modal AIGC model for product copywriting (titles, selling points, descriptions, live‑broadcast scripts). Apply cutting‑edge AIGC techniques to reduce human effort and boost business performance.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, statistics, applied mathematics, data science, or a related discipline; 0–1 year of work experience.
• Hands‑on experience with large language models, natural language generation, machine translation, question answering, machine reading, information extraction, text mining, or classification.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Go, Python, Java, etc.).
• Experience with big‑data technologies (Hive, Spark, etc.).

• Work experience in e‑commerce or the internet industry.
• Practical experience in NLP projects such as dialogue systems, machine translation, or related IR/Ad systems.
• Authorship of high‑quality research papers (ACL, EMNLP, COLING, AAAI, IEEE TASLP, etc.) is preferred.

Base salary: $124,717 – $243,200 annually (annually). Compensation may vary by location, qualifications, skills, and experience. The role may also include discretionary bonuses, restricted stock units, and other benefits.
