Overview
Do you like to use network and Unix systems engineering to deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions? Would you like to play a key role in driving the stability and sustainability of next‑generation IP networks? AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
- Build software services to deploy and scale the Amazon networks that support AWS, customers, and other business units across multiple global datacenters.
- Design high‑quality, extensible code that balances efficiency, performance, and reliability to provide customers with reliable access to their applications and data.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Identify and implement optimizations for performance, scalability, and efficiency.
- Accept responsibility for troubleshooting network issues and implementing solutions.
- Manage competing priorities and bring order to ambiguous scenarios.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, across organizations.
- Work in a 24‑x‑7 team on call rotation, driving to the workplace for critical events and needs.
- Manage customers during problem resolution and operate efficiently under pressure.
- Sit at the computer during scheduled work hours, taking appropriate breaks while maintaining a high level of alertness and attention to detail.
- Travel to data center/network sites and Amazon/customer offices as needed.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- 2+ years of design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
- Experience programming with at least one professional software programming language.
- 2+ years of work with networking fundamentals or Internet protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, SSL, DNS, HTTP/S, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
- 2+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP, ISIS) in a large enterprise environment.
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills, especially in network performance analysis.
- Experience working with customers to diagnose problems and work toward resolution.
- Expert‑level certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP) are a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Meets or exceeds Amazon’s Leadership Principles, functional/technical depth, and complexity requirements for this role.

Salary RangeUSA, WA, Seattle – $ – $ USD annually. Packages include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined by experience, qualifications, and location.
