Network Development Engineer – AWS GCNA (Global Connectivity & Network Availability) – Edge Team

• Create and implement changes on the network according to change‑management standards.
• Work closely with automation teams to define tools that scale at high volume.
• Lead network projects covering sustaining engineering, deployment/implementation, scaling, technology refresh, best‑practice application, and optimization.
• Provide critical network support to diagnose, mitigate impact and resolve large‑scale incidents for AWS customers.
• Operate and troubleshoot routing, interconnectivity, performance and configuration issues, including low‑level application interaction, Unix systems and modern networking tools.
• Drive and support innovation from Top‑of‑Rack to the network border.
• Collaborate with the broader Network/Infrastructure organization on engineering, configuration standards and tools.
• Ensure fast, smooth rollout of new designs and products, assisting deployment and sustaining of networking software tools.
• Maintain standards across the networking toolset and ensure compliance with policies.
• Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
• Collaborate with high‑tier escalation engineers and resolve escalated issues.
• Create and review documentation and processes for deployment, recurring issues, new SOPs, and knowledge transfer material.

• Participate in a 24x7 on‑call rotation, including critical onsite events.
• Manage customers during problem resolution and operate efficiently under pressure.
• Maintain high alertness and attention to detail during scheduled work hours.
• Travel to data‑center/network sites and customer offices as needed.

• 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience.
• 4+ years of experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
• 4+ years of automation scripting (Python, Bash, Shell, and/or Perl).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience with IP networking fundamentals, TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP.
• Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos.

• Master’s degree or five+ years of technical experience.
• Senior or Lead Engineer experience at other organizations.
• Expert‑level certifications (e.g., CCIE, JNCIE).
• Expert‑level scripting/automation skills in a network environment.
• Software development or programming skills.

Base salary (WA, Seattle): $136,000 – $184,000 USD annually, with sign‑on payments and restricted stock units. Additional benefits include health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, parental leave, mental‑health support, and flexible spending accounts.
