The AWS GCNA (Global Connectivity and Network Availability) Organization is looking for a Network Development Engineer to join our EDGE team. Network Development Engineers partner with our broader Infrastructure organization on configuration standards and tools, and collaborate with Systems and Software Engineers to ensure fast, smooth roll‑out of new designs and products, and also deploy and sustain networking software tools.
Key Job Responsibilities- Design network designs, services, and deployment procedures that solve for many requirements.
- Together with leadership, decide on the projects that best support your team’s mission.
- Design ahead of customer or technology needs, create and defend HLD and LLD documents, work with internal stakeholders to influence technology roadmaps, construct and test solutions, and provide support to the teams that will deploy and operate these designs.
- Create and automate deployment processes that increase quality and velocity.
- Work closely with internal customers on designs/solutions; bring those designs/solutions from concept to production.
- Work in a 24x7 on‑call rotation, with ability to drive into the workplace for critical events/needs.
- Manage customers during problem resolution and operate efficiently under pressure.
- Sit at the computer during scheduled work hours with appropriate breaks while maintaining a high level of alertness and attention to detail.
- Travel to data center/network sites and Amazon/customer offices as needed.

Basic Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree or above in computer science or equivalent.
- 8+ years of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols as well as network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills.
- 8+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols; specifically, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP, and ISIS in a large enterprise environment.
- 8+ years working with major network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and/or Junos.
- 3+ years experience with Unix/Linux skills and the ability to script in Python, Perl, or shell.
