As a Network Development Engineer on AWS Core Networking’s Network Fabric Engineering (NFE) team, you will design, deploy, and scale the core infrastructure that powers AWS, AWS Retail, and other Amazon services across multiple global data centers. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to translate architectural designs into production systems, automate deployments, and ensure that all network standards are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deploy, scale, and automate network infrastructure across all AWS and Amazon Datacenter fabrics.
  • Work on both existing footprints and greenfield locations to meet growing demand.
  • Create repeatable deployment processes that increase velocity and quality.
  • Collaborate with customers and automation teams to move designs from concept to production.
  • Maintain and update network standards; implement changes across the fabric.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on‑call rotation, responding to critical events and assisting customers under pressure.
  • Travel to data center and customer sites as needed.
A Day in the Life
  • Work in a 24x7 team on call, driving into the workplace when required.
  • Manage customer incidents, resolve problems efficiently, and maintain high alertness.
  • Spend scheduled hours at the computer with appropriate breaks.
  • Travel to network sites and Amazon offices when necessary.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or PhD) and experience in a large‑scale networking environment.
  • 1+ years in a network‑focused technical role with IP routing protocols and large‑scale data center or WAN environments.
  • 1+ years of Unix/Linux command‑line experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, IP routing, load balancing, and network security technologies (OSPF/IS‑IS, BGP, MPLS, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, LDAP, NFS).
  • Experience with network performance analysis and robust troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl, Python, shell, C or C++.
  • Strong desire to build ownership, multitask, and respond with urgency.
  • Ability to work with customers to diagnose issues and collaborate toward resolution.

The base salary range for this position is $ - $ USD annually. Your package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined by experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401(k) matching.
