Amazon Web Services is looking for a Sr. Software Development Engineer to join our growing Amazon Elastic Container Services for Kubernetes (EKS) team. Amazon EKS is a managed Kubernetes service that makes it easy for customers to use Kubernetes without becoming experts in provisioning and operating Kubernetes. EKS handles time-consuming administrative tasks such as setting up, operating, scaling, and updating Kubernetes, freeing customers to focus on their applications.

EKS Compute and Infrastructure provides various options to help customers connect and run their workloads on their EKS clusters, including EKS Auto, EKS Hybrid Nodes, Managed Node Groups, EKS Fargate, and open source Karpenter. You will be part of a fast‑paced team working on greenfield projects, simplifying how customers run compute workloads on EKS clusters. Kubernetes has become the platform of choice for AI/ML workloads, with adoption growing rapidly across the industry.

You will solve challenging technical problems—often new ones—alongside peers with remarkable technical expertise. The solutions you build will have high impact and be rolled out to a large customer base worldwide. This position includes on‑call responsibilities, typically one week every two months. We focus on fault‑tolerant systems and work collaboratively to resolve root causes to prevent repeated paging.

• 5+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems
• Experience as a mentor, technical lead, or leading an engineering team

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Salary: $168,100 – $227,400 USD annually (Washington, Seattle).
