Software Development Manager, Amazon Selection and Catalog Systems (ASCS)

Job :  |  Services LLC

Amazon's product catalog establishes and maintains the authoritative product identity that uniquely defines every product in Amazon's catalog, ensuring accurate mapping of Selling Partner listings to products, preventing identity defects that erode buyer trust, and guaranteeing defect‑free fulfillment and supply chain operations.

We are establishing a new team to own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of supply chain catalog data. We will tackle some of the most exciting challenges in catalog technology at massive scale: leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) to validate supply chain catalog quality. This initiative directly impacts Amazon's bottom line by reducing operational costs for Selling Partners and Fulfillment Centers while driving revenue growth through expanded selection.

This is a greenfield opportunity with high visibility.

We're seeking a Software Development Manager to lead the development of catalog primitives and drive its adoption across Supply Chain Systems. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguous, high‑scale environments and can drive cross‑functional alignment across Amazon Fulfillment Technology and procurement stakeholders to deliver catalog data that is structured, governed, and optimized for operational use. You'll lead a diverse team of Senior, Intermediate, and Junior Software Development Engineers, partnering closely with Program and Product Management to define and execute strategic roadmaps that shape the future of Amazon's supply chain catalog data.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Drive technical vision and architecture, making strategic decisions that balance innovation with operational excellence
  • Manage stakeholder communications and project visibility across organizations
  • Lead and grow a high‑performing engineering team through effective hiring, mentoring, and career development while fostering an inclusive Agile/Scrum environment
  • Own end‑to‑end delivery, including planning, execution, and metric‑driven success measurement
  • Balance business requirements against technical constraints
  • Establish robust monitoring, alerting, and automation systems to maintain operational excellence
  • Drive technical innovation through complex distributed systems design, ML/AI implementation, and continuous process improvement
  • Establish technical best practices for critical catalog platform services
About the Team

We support hundreds of internal clients, and businesses that contribute to the Amazon catalog. We value inclusivity, transparency, and customer‑centric solutions, fostering a culture of ownership, empowerment, and continuous investment in mechanisms and software systems that help us sustainably meet business demand.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live‑site operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product engineers
