Duration
Initial contract term from July 1, 2026 through August 31, 2026, with strong potential for long-term extension based on performance and continued funding alignment with the new fiscal year beginning September 1, 2026.
Location
Remote position with occasional onsite attendance required at the
John Stanford Center for Educational Excellence.
Candidates must reside within Western Washington. Work schedule and onsite expectations are negotiable upon hire.
Compensation
Hourly rate is negotiable and dependent on skills, certifications, and experience.
Position Overview
Seattle Public Schools (SPS) is seeking an experienced IT Program Delivery Coordinator to support the Student Systems and Support Team within the Department of Technology Services. This role partners closely with the IT Manager to coordinate day-to-day operational activities, project delivery, release management, communications, and continuous process improvement efforts across the district's enterprise student systems portfolio.
This is a hands-on coordination role, not a people-management position, and does not include direct budget or staffing responsibilities.
The 17-member team includes Analysts, Developers, and Database Administrators supporting both vendor-hosted and internally developed enterprise student systems.

Operational Coordination
- Coordinate recurring operational activities including incidents, requests, releases, hotfixes, upgrades, and annual/seasonal processes.
- Facilitate daily stand-ups and operational meetings while coordinating priorities across project and support work streams.
- Support after-hours activities related to system upgrades and school-year transition processes.
- Maintain and manage the operational calendar for releases, hotfixes, upgrades, and implementation timelines.
- Coordinate environment preparation, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), regression testing, defect resolution, security reviews, and production deployments.
- Represent the team in departmental change management activities and governance meetings.
- Develop communication plans for system changes, outages, maintenance windows, and service interruptions.
- Translate technical concepts into clear business-friendly communications for executive sponsors, business users, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Serve as a coordination bridge between technical teams, vendors, and district stakeholders.
- Partner with IT leadership to improve operational processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), SLAs, and support workflows.
- Help expand and optimize Tier 1 support coordination with the Tech Line team.
- Support configuration and enhancement of Service Now workflows and dashboards.
- Maintain operational templates, process documentation, requirements documents, Service Now dashboards, and reporting metrics.
- Track delivery timelines, risks, action items, and operational dependencies.
- 5+ years of experience coordinating IT operations, service delivery, or enterprise software projects.
- Hands-on experience with Service Now or comparable ITSM/work management platforms.
- Experience supporting Agile, Scrum, or Kanban delivery practices.
- Experience coordinating releases, UAT activities, system changes, or enterprise deployments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience documenting operational procedures, requirements, and workflows.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience supporting Student Information Systems (SIS), particularly Power School.
- Background in K-12 education technology or public sector environments.
- Experience with Service Now SPM (Strategic Portfolio Management) and CWM (Collaborative Workspace Management).
- PMP, PgMP, Scrum, PMI-ACP, ITIL, Lean, or Six Sigma certifications.
- Technical background in systems administration or application support.
- Experience with cloud-based applications, enterprise integrations, or migration projects.
- Familiarity with IT security, compliance, and governance practices.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and third-party coordination.
- Understanding of technical debt management and long-term system sustainability.
