This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week.

ABOUT THE TEAMThe Platform Engineering team is part of Parametric IT's Developer Experience department at Parametric and is vital to developer enablement and system reliability in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). As a team, we:

Consult and collaborate with cloud-native (AWS, Azure) and self-hosted application teams to deliver and operate reliable, performant, robust, and secure applications

Automate provisioning of non-production environment for application development and testing

Design, operate, and manage development tool chains and CI/CD pipelines to meet objectives for high-velocity delivery while also meeting control requirements

Build and maintain container orchestration on Kubernetes Provide observability via monitoring tools such as Datadog, Splunk, Sentry etc.

THE ROLE The Senior Platform Engineer will partner with cloud-native application development teams with direct business alignment - empowering them to deliver quality software at high velocity, rapidly receive actionable feedback, and cultivating an environment of continuous experimentation. Additionally, the Senior Platform Engineer will create reusable components and workflows that deliver superior developer experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Function as subject matter expert in the areas of delivering and operating reliable, performant, robust, and secure applications

Work with the development teams to design, document, create and maintain highly available systems

Design, implement, and manage centralized monitoring solutions that provide expedient actionable feedback to the development teams

Partner with the application development teams to create flows, processes, automation, and tooling

Create an environment of continuous experimentation and learning

Contribute to evolution of our architecture (cloud-focused) to increase its flexibility and ease of use Follow technology trends/tools and recommend improvements to our technology when appropriate

Mentor new or less senior members of the team Share experience, knowledge, and ideas to the team to improve processes and productivity

Provide tier 2 and 3 escalations for related issues and questions

Job QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related area of study5+ years of hands-on Platform Engineering (i.e., Dev Ops, Sys Ops, SRE) experience with a proven track record of people and thought leadership to achieve strategic objectives5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud-native solution architectures and related platform support, i.e., Cyber Security, Infrastructure as Code (IAC), Observability Ability to dive deep and get hands-on to contribute to platform engineering solutions

Expertise in automation strategies for cloud-native solutions (pipelines, IAC, test suites)
Proven experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms

Experience implementing IAC - Terraform preferred

Experience using Git Hub and engineering YAML based ci/cd pipelines
