Principal Technical Infrastructure Program Manager, AI/ML Infrastructure Strategy, ML Capacity Delivery

Job :  | Amazon Data Services, Inc.

As part of our Data Center Planning & Delivery organization, we plan and build the physical infrastructure that powers AWS’s rapidly growing AI and Machine Learning services. We are seeking a Principal Technical Infrastructure Program Manager to own global AI/ML infrastructure strategy and capacity planning. In this role, you will manage significantly complex cross‑functional work streams across both short‑term and long‑term planning horizons, serving as the nexus between data center planning, server hardware innovation, network architecture, and customer‑driven demand.

You will guide the strategic deployment and optimization of AI/ML infrastructure across a rapidly expanding global footprint, engaging with demand planning processes, maintaining power and network supply inventory, and balancing tradeoffs to meet evolving customer needs. AWS’s AI/ML infrastructure is experiencing exponential growth, and this role is central to enabling that scale. The ideal candidate combines deep technical understanding of data center infrastructure with strong cross‑functional program management skills.

You will drive clarity through ambiguity, advise senior leadership, and make high‑judgment decisions that directly impact multiple organizations and customers. You must be comfortable working on strategy that is not yet defined, building scalable mechanisms from scratch, and influencing without direct authority across a large, matrixed organization. If you thrive at the intersection of massive‑scale infrastructure and AI technology, and you want to shape how the world’s largest cloud builds for the AI era, this role is for you.

Key

job responsibilities
  • Drive the global AI/ML server placement strategy, considering data center attributes (power, networking, cooling, structural requirements) and customer demand to optimally position servers across regions.
  • Lead deployment planning for specialized high‑performance network fabrics required by AI training workloads, working with networking teams on fabric sizing, multi‑site cluster architectures, and regional deployment plans.
  • Build and maintain capacity planning tools that serve as the single source of truth for AI/ML infrastructure deployments globally, integrating multiple data sources with complex analytical logic.
  • Influence infrastructure tooling roadmaps to incorporate AI‑specific capabilities for end‑to‑end demand planning, supply planning, build planning, and execution.
  • Translate product roadmaps and customer commitments into concrete deployment plans across multiple server types with varying power, cooling, and networking requirements.
  • Guide liquid cooling infrastructure planning for next‑generation GPU platforms, coordinating with design engineering and hardware teams.
  • Establish and lead cross‑functional planning forums bringing together product, capacity, networking, supply chain, and infrastructure stakeholders for strategic alignment.
  • Ensure healthy balance of regional capacity across different workload types; facilitate leadership reviews when tradeoffs are required.
  • Provide inputs for long‑term financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation through annual planning cycles.
  • Mentor and develop regional planning leads globally; share best practices and lessons learned through knowledge‑sharing forums.
  • Communicate strategic recommendations clearly to senior leadership through well‑structured, data‑driven proposals.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field, or 4+ years of industry work experience.
  • 10+ years of program or project management experience, or a Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of cross‑functional project delivery experience.
  • 5+ years of supply chain, forecasting, manufacturing, sourcing/procurement, or vendor management experience.
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure design, operations, or delivery.
  • Experience leading cross‑organizational programs and setting and holding teams and individuals to timelines and deliverables…
