Description

AWS Compliance & Security Assurance is looking for an experienced Governance Specialist to support the Global Product Compliance (GTPC) team on a broad range of regulatory compliance matters. The role involves interacting with AWS Security, Datacenter Engineering, AWS Services, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Legal, Tax, and other internal groups as well as external stakeholders to drive operational policies and controls that oversee AWS’s product compliance posture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement governance controls, SOPs, and policy frameworks that govern regulatory operations processes, ensuring each control is traceable to a defined risk or compliance requirement.
  • Define and execute country-level and product-level regulatory research methodology across all target markets, and establish a regulatory intelligence database with intake workflows, data quality standards, and refresh cadences.
  • Design engagement protocols and stakeholder maps for managing government regulatory contacts and agency relationships across all operating jurisdictions, and build processes for monitoring regulatory changes and assessing impact on risk to market access and program timelines.
  • Design and enforce documentation and records retention controls that satisfy post-deployment audit requirements, execute ongoing compliance audits and post-shipment surveillance obligations, and develop audit checklists, sampling methodologies, and reporting templates.
  • Leverage compliance data and regulatory intelligence to identify emerging risks, maintain readiness dashboards, and present risk insights supporting leadership decision‑making.
Day in the Life

This position reports to the Sr. Manager for Product Compliance Operations within the AWS Global Trade and Product Compliance (GTPC) function. Responsibilities include reviewing regulatory change alerts, updating the intelligence database, assessing compliance risks against active hardware programs, refining governance controls based on audit findings, coordinating with government agency contacts, and ensuring documentation archives remain audit‑ready.

Basic Qualifications
  • 4+ years of regulatory and risk management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing compliance controls, SOPs, and governance frameworks that satisfy regulatory audit requirements.
  • Experience managing regulatory intelligence — conducting country‑level research, maintaining compliance databases, and monitoring regulatory changes across multiple markets simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to manage cross‑functional programs involving legal, engineering, supply chain, and government affairs stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in regulatory affairs, public policy, international trade, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in data center, critical environment, computer hardware repair, infrastructure cabling, network deployment, or data center operations, or experience with network hardware such as copper and optical fiber cabling, switches, and routers.
  • Experience with automation and version control tools, or deployment of identity and access management systems, or experience in a Bigdata architecture.
  • Experience working directly with government officials and regulatory bodies.
  • Familiarity with international certification schemes (CB Scheme, CE marking, FCC, ISED, MIC) and post‑market surveillance obligations.
  • Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., RAC, CRCM, PMP) or an equivalent regulatory/governance credential.
