Job OverviewWe are working on improving shopping on Amazon by leveraging conversational large language models (LLM) and Vision‑Language Models (VLM) to personalize customer experience. In this role, you will manage a team of scientists and machine learning engineers focused on post‑training and alignment of LLM/VLM for new shopping experiences.
Basic Qualifications- 3+ years of management experience with scientists or machine learning engineers
- Knowledge of ML, NLP, information retrieval, and analytics
- PhD in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics or an equivalent quantitative field
- Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business applications
- Experience building complex software systems, especially involving deep learning, machine learning, and computer vision that have been successfully delivered to customers
- 2+ years of management experience with scientists or machine learning engineers
- Deep expertise with large language models, visual language models, and embedding modalities (vision and others); published work or artifacts in these areas during pre‑training or post‑training

Compensation and BenefitsBase salary range: USA, CA, Palo Alto – $211,400 – $286,000 annually; USA, WA, Seattle – $183,800 – $248,700 annually. The Amazon package includes sign‑on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, parental leave, and additional benefits.
