Applied Scientist , Prime Video - Playback Intelligence

Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering customers a vast collection of premium programming in one app available across thousands of devices. Prime members can customize their viewing experience and find their favorite movies, series, documentaries, and live sports - including Amazon MGM Studios-produced series and movies; licensed fan favorites; and programming from Prime Video add-on subscriptions such as Apple TV+, Max, Crunchyroll and MGM+.

All customers, regardless of whether they have a Prime membership or not, can rent or buy titles via the Prime Video Store, and can enjoy even more content for free with ads.

As a Prime Video technologist, you will have end-to-end ownership of the product, user experience, design, and technology required to deliver state-of-the-art experiences for our customers. You will work on fast-paced, challenging, and varied projects, experiment with new possibilities, take risks, and collaborate with remarkable people.

• You will work with multiple teams of scientists, engineers, and product managers to translate business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables and lead strategic efforts to enhance customer quality of experience.
• You will work on problem spaces that improve playback quality across Video on Demand, Live Events, and Linear Content, reducing time, cost and effort to optimize the customer experience and detecting, root-causing, and mitigating defects.
• You will integrate new algorithms and processes into existing modeling stacks, simplify and streamline the stacks, and develop testing and evaluation strategies, working backwards from the desired outcomes to determine the ideal solution (statistical techniques, traditional ML, GenAI, etc.).
• You will define key research directions, adopt or invent new machine-learning techniques, conduct rigorous experiments, publish results, and ensure research is translated into practice; develop long-term strategies, persuade teams to adopt them, and deliver on goals.

• Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning or an equivalent quantitative field.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
• Experience with SQL and an RDBMS (e.g., Oracle) or Data Warehouse.

• Experience implementing algorithms using both toolkits and self-developed code.
• Publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.

The base salary range for this position is USD ,000 annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
