The Workplace team helps create the conditions for collaboration, community, and connection across Zillow’s distributed workforce. As Zillow continues to grow as a distributed company, in‑person and hybrid gatherings remain an important part of how teams work together. This team partners closely with AV Engineering and workplace partners to make those experiences smooth, reliable, and easy to navigate for employees and guests.

As an AV Event Technician on the Workplace team, you will play a key role in supporting on‑site and hybrid gatherings, primarily in Zillow’s Seattle office. You’ll serve as an on‑ground partner for event hosts and attendees, act as a liaison between Workplace and AV Engineering, and help ensure AV‑enabled spaces are ready to use. The role includes on‑site AV support, routine testing of AV rooms, training teammates on standard room setups, and basic AV system build and maintenance work in partnership with AV Engineers.

Provide AV support for on‑site and hybrid events, including room setup, equipment checks, and live event support. Serve as the primary liaison between the AV Engineering team and the Workplace team for hybrid events in Seattle, communicating needs, issues, and status clearly. Partner with Workplace teammates, gathering planners, and event hosts to understand event requirements and recommend the appropriate AV setup.

Set up, operate, and break down core audiovisual systems such as microphones, cameras, displays, and conferencing tools. Monitor live events, troubleshoot issues in real time, and provide a high level of support to internal customers. Perform regular testing and health checks of AV spaces, log issues for follow‑up. Deliver basic training and refreshers for Workplace team members on how to use AV spaces.

Support employees hosting events on‑site by addressing AV needs and ensuring equipment functions. Troubleshoot routine software and hardware issues, escalating more complex issues to AV Engineers. Contribute to user‑friendly documentation for AV equipment, including quick‑start guides and checklists. Assist with basic scopes, BOM development, procurement coordination, cabling coordination, and onsite testing or commissioning for basic AV systems under AV Engineering guidance.

High school diploma; an associate degree is preferred. 2+ years of customer service, hospitality, or on‑site event support experience, ideally in an AV or event technician setting. Hands‑on experience supporting AV setups end to end, including room prep, live monitoring, basic troubleshooting, teardown, and end‑user support. Working knowledge of Zoom and Zoom Rooms, with comfort troubleshooting common audio, video, lighting, and control issues.

Familiarity with Google Workspace and production hardware such as audio mixers, video switchers, camera controllers, or lighting consoles is a plus. Ability to translate end‑user needs into clear technical requests and work across Workplace teams, event hosts, and AV Engineering partners. Strong communication and collaboration skills, calm under pressure, and focused on creating great experiences. Detail‑oriented, methodical in testing and follow‑through, comfortable in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities.

This role is classified as an Office position. Employees work at a ZG corporate office approximately 80‑100% of the time each month and must live within reasonable commuting distance of the designated office. In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC, the base pay range is $33.90–$54.10 per hour. Eligible for equity awards based on experience, performance, and location.

Employees will not be paid below the salary threshold for exempt employees in the state where they reside.
