Network Development Engineer, Network - Core

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.

You’ll join a diverse team of engineers and specialists, collaborating across AWS to deliver safety, security and scalable capacity at the lowest possible cost.

• Create and implement changes on the network.
• Work closely with automation teams to define tools that scale operations.
• Lead network projects in sustaining engineering, deployment, scaling, technology refresh, and optimization.
• Sustain next‑generation networks for major customers, diagnosing, mitigating and resolving large‑scale events.
• Operate and troubleshoot network routing, interconnectivity, performance and configuration issues, with low‑level Unix and networking software.
• Drive innovation from top‑of‑rack to network border.
• Partner with Network/Infrastructure organization on engineering standards and tools.
• Collaborate with Network/Systems/Software teams for roll‑out of new designs and products.
• Maintain standards across the networking toolset and ensure compliance with policies.
• Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
• Collaborate with escalation engineers and create documentation and processes for implementation, recurring issues, SOPs and knowledge transfer.

• Work in a 24x7 on‑call rotation, with ability to travel to critical events.
• Manage customers during problem resolution and operate efficiently under pressure.
• Sit at computer during scheduled hours with breaks, maintaining alertness.
• Travel to data centers, network sites and customer offices as needed.

• 4+ years of major internet routing protocol experience.
• 4+ years of experience working in Linux/Unix environments.

• 1+ year of automation scripting experience using Python, Bash, Shell or Perl.
