Network Development Engineer II, AWS Internet Edge; GCNA-D

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that keep the cloud running.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, network, and security experts who collaborate across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety, security, and cost efficiency while providing unlimited capacity for customers.

• Create and implement changes on the network.
• Work closely with automation teams to define tools that scale at higher volume.
• Lead network projects in sustaining engineering, deployment, scaling, technology refresh, and optimization.
• Sustain Amazon Web Services’ next‑generation networks for major customers by diagnosing, mitigating, and resolving large‑scale networking events.
• Operate and troubleshoot network routing, interconnectivity, platforms, performance, and configuration issues, including low‑level application interaction and Unix system support.
• Drive and support innovation from Top of Rack to the Network Border and everything in between.
• Partner with the broader Network/Infrastructure organization on engineering, configuration standards, and tool development.
• Collaborate with Network/Systems/Software Engineering teams to ensure fast, smooth roll‑out of new designs and products, and assist with deployment and sustaining of networking software tools.
• Maintain standards across the networking toolset and ensure full compliance with policies.
• Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
• Collaborate with highest‑tier escalation engineers and resolvers.
• Create and review documentation and processes related to network implementation, recurring issues, new SOPs, and knowledge transfer.

• Work in a 24x7 on‑call rotation, with the ability to drive to critical events.
• Manage customers during problem resolution and operate efficiently under pressure.
• Sit at the computer during scheduled work hours with appropriate breaks while maintaining high alertness and attention to detail.
• Travel to data center/network sites and Amazon/customer offices as needed.

• 4+ years of major internet routing protocol experience.
• 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment.

• Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP.
