Supply Chain IT Business Analyst (Retail)
Location:
Seattle, WA (Remote PST Hours / Locals Preferred for Hybrid). Job Type: Long Term Contract | Any Visa.
We are seeking a Supply Chain IT Business Analyst with strong domain expertise in retail supply chain processes and hands‑on experience in data analysis and system integration. The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring accurate data flow, system alignment, and actionable insights across supply chain planning systems.
Key Responsibilities- Business & Functional Analysis - Collaborate with supply chain stakeholders (planning, inventory, replenishment, forecasting) to gather, analyze, and document business requirements. Translate business requirements into functional specifications and data mapping documents for IT and data engineering teams. Support implementation and enhancement of supply chain planning systems.
- Supply Chain Data Understanding - Analyze and validate key supply chain data streams, including:
- Inventory (On‑hand)
- Receipts and inbound shipments
- Orders (sales, transfers, purchase orders)
- Forecast and demand signals
- Data Analysis & SQL - Write and optimize SQL queries to:
- Analyze data flows between upstream and downstream systems
- Perform data validation and reconciliation
- Troubleshoot data discrepancies across systems
- Data Engineering & Data Lake Awareness - Work with data engineering teams to understand and validate data pipeline processes, including:
- Data ingestion
- Data transformations
- Snapshotting and historical data tracking
- Testing & Validation - Develop test scenarios, test cases, and validation procedures for supply chain data pipelines and system changes. Perform UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and support business sign‑off.
- Documentation & Communication - Create clear, structured documentation including:
- Functional design documents
- Data mappings
- Process flows
Skills & Qualifications
- Domain Expertise - Strong understanding of retail supply chain processes, including inventory management, demand forecasting, order management and replenishment. Good knowledge of supply chain planning inputs and outputs (on‑hand, receipts, orders, forecast).
- Technical Skills - Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and validation. Working knowledge of data lake architectures and processes such as snapshotting, incremental data loads, and data versioning.
- Analytical Skills - Strong problem‑solving and analytical thinking abilities. Ability to trace and understand complex data flows across multiple systems.
- Tools & Technologies (Preferred) - Experience with data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake), supply chain systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Blue Yonder, O9), and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Preferred Qualifications - Experience working in retail industry environments. Exposure to end‑to‑end supply chain planning solutions. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Key Competencies - Strong communication and stakeholder management, detail‑oriented with focus on data accuracy, ability to work in cross‑functional teams, documentation and presentation skills.
