About

the Role

We’re looking for a Lead Technical Writer to own the documentation layer for our on‑site operations function.

  • You’ll create, maintain, and govern the technical writing that underpins playbooks, runbooks, SOPs, and operational standards across our datacenter portfolio.
  • You’ll make sure complex technical and operational processes are captured clearly, kept current, and accessible to the teams who depend on them.
  • You’ll be the dedicated owner of documentation governance — version control, review cadences, and archival — so quality and currency never slip.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Own the development, maintenance, and version control of all technical documentation for on‑site operations — including playbooks, runbooks, SOPs, process guides, and safety documentation.
  • Translate complex engineering, operational, and vendor‑specific information into clear, structured documentation usable by on‑site staff, vendors, and leadership.
  • Establish and enforce a documentation governance framework, including version control standards, review cadences, approval workflows, and archival protocols.
  • Maintain a centralized documentation library, ensuring all documents are accurately indexed, current, and accessible to the right audiences across all sites.
  • Track documentation gaps across active sites and programs, proactively flagging outdated, missing, or inconsistent documentation.
  • Partner with site leadership and operations teams to capture current‑state processes and convert them into standardized, scalable documentation.
  • Develop and maintain onboarding documentation for new on‑site staff and vendors, so every new team member has what they need to operate to Nscale standards from day one.
  • Support the development of customer‑facing and tenant‑facing operational documentation when required, including service delivery summaries, SLA reporting templates, and escalation guides.
  • Collaborate with the Process Optimization team to ensure on‑site documentation aligns with broader business operations SOPs and process governance standards.
About You
  • 4+ years of technical writing experience in a datacenter, infrastructure, or hardware‑intensive operational environment.
  • Strong ability to translate complex technical and operational concepts into clear, structured, and audience‑appropriate documentation.
  • Experience owning a documentation library end‑to‑end, including version control, governance frameworks, and review cycles.
  • Familiarity with documentation tooling (Confluence, Notion, SharePoint, or equivalent) and version control best practices.
  • Comfortable working closely with technical and operational subject matter experts to extract, validate, and structure process information.
  • Detail‑oriented and organized, able to manage multiple concurrent documentation work streams across different sites and programs.
  • Experience writing for diverse audiences, including on‑site operations staff, vendor teams, and executive leadership.
Why This Role Matters

Our on‑site teams move fast, and undocumented knowledge doesn’t scale. This role means every active site has current, audit‑ready documentation, every new hire and vendor is equipped from day one, and our operations leaders can focus on running sites instead of writing about them. It’s a role built to prevent gaps before they become incidents.
