Network Development Engineer, GCNA Deployment, AWS Internet Edge

Description

Amazon is looking for best‑in‑class Network Engineers to help deploy and automate one of the world’s largest and most complex networks. Our goal is to become "The Infrastructure Platform" worldwide, delivering the highest quality and reliability for our services while scaling our network through automation.

• Deploy network infrastructure across all Amazon network fabrics that support the Retail Service, Kindle, Payments, and multiple AWS services.
• Deploy, scale, and automate the network across multiple global datacenters, including existing footprints and greenfield locations.
• Drive scaling of current network designs to meet customer demand.
• Create simple, repetitive deployment processes that increase velocity and quality.
• Collaborate with internal customers on designs and solutions, bringing them from concept to production.
• Maintain and update network standards, ensuring deployments adhere to those standards.
• Implement changes on the network as needed.
• Work closely with automation teams to define tools that enable unprecedented scaling.

• Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience applying IP protocols.
• Experience with major internet routing protocols, specifically BGP and OSPF.
• Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.

• Knowledge of IT best‑practice frameworks (ITIL, COBIT) and operational excellence concepts or methodologies.
• Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures.
• Experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming.
• Experience working with customers to diagnose a problem and work toward resolution.
• Bachelor’s degree.
