Technician II

Remote Hands Technician II assists all Digital Realty customers by providing “best in class” customer and technical support. The role supports customer demands including rack and stacking equipment, cabling, cross‑connects, and works with Deployment, Implementation, Global Command Center, Provisioning, and Project Management teams to ensure installations meet delivery dates and deliver a positive customer experience. Primary responsibility is responding to Customer Requests within the Service Level Agreement time frame and ensuring 100% uptime for all customers.

• Perform Remote Hands services tracked through the Digital Realty ticketing system.
• Equipment rack and stack; cable terminate and dress fiber or copper network cabling.
• Assist customers with diagnosing hardware and software issues on their equipment.
• Power cycle customer equipment.
• Install or remove blade/card, memory, hard drive, and transceiver components.
• Test and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic circuits.
• Perform migrations of equipment, power, or networking devices.
• Ship and receive packages.
• Receive, install, and test customer and internal cross‑connects of copper and fiber optic interconnections.
• Use power and hand tools (screwdrivers, drills, wire strippers, punch down tools, etc.).
• Provide timely customer and internal updates using a computer‑based ticketing system.
• Perform and document inventory verification and counts.
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Assist in maintaining overall data center cleanliness and appearance.
• Report to the facility within an average of one hour for emergency assistance as needed.

• 3+ years of experience in telecommunications or data center related field.
• Understanding of telecom structured cabling standards and network device deployment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Provide rotational on‑call coverage.
• Use of industry standard test equipment.
• Troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Professional business communication and interpersonal skills.
• CompTIA A+ or Net+ certification preferred.
• General knowledge of AC/DC electrical theory.
• Understanding of Building Management System (BMS) and Branch Circuit Monitoring System (BCMS).
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Access, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Explorer) or equivalents.
• Physical ability to lift and handle up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, and stretch for placement and retrieval of network devices or equipment.
• Work under a raised data center floor and climb ladders up to 16 feet to reach plenum spaces.
